rifle - Civilian marksmanship program

CMP shoot may 21, 2011
This is a fun shoot subsidized by the SCCP. We would like to see as many people participate as possible. CMP marksmanship certificates will be awarded to all participants together with prizes and awards.
Fire Arms: Any rifle with open sights - semi-auto, bolt, lever, or pump action.
Course of Fire: 1) 5 sighting shots – prone – 5 min; 2) 10 shots – standing – 10 min; 3) 10 shots – sitting/kneeling – 70 sec; 4) 10 shots – prone – 70 sec; 5) 20 shots – prone – 20 min. Total = 55 shots. Distance = 100 yds.
Required Equipment: Ground pad/cardboard; eye and ear protection; long sleeve shirt, pants, cap (protection from hot brass), ammunition, pen, staple gun.

WHAT IS THE CIVILIAN MARKSMANSHIP PROGRAM
The Civilian Marksmanship Program (CMP) is a national organization dedicated to training and educating U. S. citizens in responsible uses of firearms through gun safety training, marksmanship training and competitions.
AFFILIATED CLUB
The Sportsmen’s Club of Clifton Park (SCCP) is an official Affiliated Club with the Civilian Marksmanship Program (CMP). Qualified members of SCCP are entitled to purchase US Government surplus rifles, ammunition and rifle parts through our affiliation with CMP.
SCCP SPONSORED CMP ACTIVITIES
- CMP Sanctioned Military Rifle Matches – Usually held twice annually in the Spring and Fall
- CMP Sanctioned Educational Clinics – Usually held annually.
Benefits of shooting in a CMP Match
- Have fun – The match is non-competitive and is designed to encourage participation by shooters of all levels - beginners to old pros.
- Make friends while developing safe shooting techniques.
- Prizes and awards.
- Receive CMP Marksmanship Qualification Certificate – Required for CMP purchases.
Course of Fire
- All targets at 100-yards.
- 5 sighting rounds in 5 minutes from any position.
- 20 rounds slow fire prone in 20 minutes.
- 10 rounds rapid fire prone in 70/80 seconds.
- 10 rounds rapid fire sitting or kneeling in 60 seconds.
- 10 rounds slow fire standing in 10 minutes.
Shooters Provide
- Rifle capable of being loaded by stripper clip or box magazine. Extra clips or magazines. Rifles must have open sights – no scopes.
- Eye and ear protection, cap, appropriate protective clothing, pen or sharpie.
- Optional: shooting mat, insect repellant.
- Spotting scopes or binoculars are allowed during sighting phase.
Fee – There is a non-refundable range fee of $25 per shooter.
